Example use case, not a customer story
How a three-lorry skip hire firm would run on QWTN
A family skip firm with three lorries and a yard. Bookings by phone, swaps all day, and invoices that take a weekend.
- 3lorries and drivers
- 4people in total
- 1yard
- £29Carrier, a month
An invented business. The team, fleet and volume figures are assumptions for this example, not results from a customer.
Who they are and what goes wrong
A family skip hire firm with one yard, three lorries and a stock of skips of different sizes. The owner drives one lorry, two others drive the rest, and one person in the office takes bookings and does the invoices.
Nobody is sure which skip is where. A builder rings to say theirs has been full for a week, and the diary says it was due back on Tuesday.
Drivers hand in crumpled notes at the end of the day. Weights are guessed, signatures are missing and the office retypes it all to invoice. Month end takes a weekend.

A day with QWTN
- 07:00The day is already on the scheduleYesterday’s bookings and the recurring jobs are there. Optimise day shares the open jobs between the three lorries, orders each route and sends a lorry to a tip when it fills. The office pins the job that has to go first, then applies the plan and each driver’s app shows the new order.
- 07:30Drivers open the Today screenThe next job is in big type with Navigate and Arrived buttons, and the whole day sits below as a timeline. The driver app opens in the phone’s browser, so there is nothing to install from an app store.
- On each jobThe note is written at the skipOne step per screen: weight on a big number pad, a photo, the customer signs, the driver signs, finish. Where the customer is on a season ticket, the visit is logged against it. With no signal it finishes anyway and syncs when the lorry is back in range.
- Mid-morningA problem takes two tapsA car is parked in front of the skip. The driver taps Problem and picks no access. The office sees it on the live board, with the job flagged, and can reassign the next job while the driver moves on.
- AfternoonCheck what is on hireThe containers screen lists skips on hire by site and customer, days on hire and anything past its return date. Overdue skips can be booked in for collection on tomorrow’s schedule.
- Month endInvoice in one reviewed runEach customer’s rates are set once as a contract. The billing run previews every invoice from completed jobs, flags unpriced jobs and missing weights first, and creates the drafts in one go. A job is never billed twice.
What they use
Scheduling and Optimise day
Book on a calendar, repeat jobs around bank holidays, and plan every driver’s day at once. Uses road distances while the routing allowance lasts and says when it estimated instead.
Scheduling and routesOffline driver app
Today screen, one step per screen on a job, problems in two taps and a vehicle check. Keeps working with no signal.
The driver appSkips and containers
What is on which site, for how long, and what is overdue. Swaps and collections tie back to the note.
Container trackingSeason tickets
One note and a schedule for repeat skip swaps at the same site, with renewal reminders.
Notes and season ticketsContracts and billing runs
Per-lift, container rental and fixed charges by customer, then a month invoiced in one reviewed run.
Contracts and invoicesFleet and DVSA checks
MOT, tax and insurance dates with reminders, walkarounds with photos, defects raised and signed off.
Fleet management
What it looks like
Screens from the QWTN demo workspace, with made-up data.

The plan that fits
Carrier covers the whole yard
Scheduling, the driver app, container tracking, contracts, billing runs and fleet checks all start on Carrier, and the plan allows up to five people. Four people, three of them drivers, fit inside it. The price does not change with the number of notes.
What would change it. A sixth person with a login, white-label PDFs, weighbridge tickets or the API need Fleet.
Compare every plan- Carrier£29 a month, or £290 a year
- Up to 5people on this plan
No VAT charged. QWTN is not VAT-registered, so the price you see is the price you pay.
What to check first
The plan and feature details that matter most for this example.
- Optimise day does not use live traffic and does not plan driver breaks.
- En route on the live board is worked out from the driver’s day, not from GPS.
- Weighbridge tickets are on Fleet. On Carrier the driver enters the weight.
