Our story

Built by someone who hated the paperwork as much as you do

I spent years working in the waste collection industry. I know exactly what it feels like to be sitting in a cab at the end of a long day, still needing to fill out another form.

The same note. Written out. Again.

Every collection needed a Waste Transfer Note. Every note meant filling in the same company details, the same EWC codes, the same addresses, by hand, on paper, in triplicate.

Then posting or emailing copies. Then hoping the customer actually got theirs. Then filing your copy somewhere you'd actually be able to find it two years later when the Environment Agency came knocking.

  • Handwriting the same details on every single collection
  • Mailing or emailing paper copies to customers
  • Filing cabinets full of notes you hoped to never need
  • Scrambling to find a 2-year-old WTN when asked for it
  • Worrying about whether the customer signed their copy
  • Time spent on admin instead of collections

Digital WTNs have been legal since 2011. Nobody told the industry.

The Waste (England & Wales) Regulations 2011 permit digital waste transfer notes and electronic signatures. Paper has never been required. But most waste carriers were still doing everything by hand well into the 2020s.

So I built QWTN. Not for enterprise compliance teams, but for waste carriers, skip hire operators, and the builders and tradespeople who need a note done before the lorry leaves the yard. Something simple, that works on a phone, for less than a round of coffees a month.

What we believe

Most compliance software is designed by people who've never been near a skip lorry. QWTN is built for the person on the job, not the office manager.

Simple
If you need a manual, it's too complicated. You can create your first note without an account and be running in minutes.
Honest
No hidden fees, no bait-and-switch. The free tier actually works, and every plan has a published price.
Compliant
The legally required WTN fields, digital signatures and EA register checks are built in, not bolted on.
Yours
Your data, your notes, yours to export and keep. Downgrading never deletes anything.
