Example use case, not a customer story
How a sole trader producing a few notes a week would run on QWTN
A man-with-a-van who clears waste for a few regular customers. A handful of transfer notes a week, no office and one phone.
- 1person, one van
- 3 to 5notes a week, assumed
- 0staff or office
- Solois the plan that fits
An invented business. The team, fleet and volume figures are assumptions for this example, not results from a customer.
Who they are and what goes wrong
A self-employed man-with-a-van who also clears waste for a few regular customers: two landlords, a small office cleaning contract and private homes. He is registered as a waste carrier, works from his phone and does his own invoices on Sunday night.
The law asks for a transfer note every time waste changes hands, kept for two years and produced within 7 days if asked. At a few a week that is a lot of writing the same details out again.
Notes get written on the back of an invoice, or not at all. The customer is not always there to sign, and the one that is needed is in the van, in a drawer or nowhere.

The plan that fits
Free to start, Solo when notes need storing and signing
A one-off note costs nothing and needs no account, which covers an occasional job. A few notes a week for the same customers is where storage, e-signatures, season tickets and the client record start to save time, and that is Solo. One person is all the plan allows, which is all this business needs.
What would change it. If he takes on a driver and adds a second van, scheduling, the driver app and a second login need Carrier.
Compare every plan- Solo£12 a month, or £120 a year
- 1person on this plan
No VAT charged. QWTN is not VAT-registered, so the price you see is the price you pay.
What to check first
The plan and feature details that matter most for this example.
- Notes made without an account are not stored. Download the PDF and keep it for two years.
- The driver app, scheduling and route planning start on Carrier.
- Electronic notes and signatures have been valid since 2011, but he still has to describe the waste correctly. QWTN checks the fields are filled in, not that the description is right.
