Every note, every load, one app
Waste transfer notes, hazardous consignments, digital waste tracking, routes, the driver's phone, the fleet and the invoice: built for UK waste law, from a free one-off note upward.
- No sign-up needed for one-off notes
- Paid plans from £12 a month add e-signatures and 2-year storage
Waste transfer notes
Every field the Duty of Care asks for, in the order you fill it in on site. Write a one-off note, run a regular customer on a season ticket, or link a collection to where it was deposited so the whole chain is on record.
- One-off notes, free and without an account
- Season tickets with a collection schedule and renewal reminders
- Deposit details and linked transfer chains, with open chains flagged
- Templates, saved clients and a reusable load library
- EWC and SIC lookup, waste hierarchy declaration, and quantity and weight estimates

E-signatures with an evidence trail
Hand over the phone and the producer signs with a finger, or send a signing link if they are not on site. Electronic notes and signatures have been valid since 2011, and every signature is stamped with who, when and how.
- Signed in person on any phone, tablet or desktop
- Remote signing links, with the moment it is signed shown to you
- Evidence trail on every signature, and signed notes locked from edits
- Signed PDF for both parties, kept for 2 years

Hazardous consignment notes
Hazardous waste needs a consignment note, not a transfer note, and the rules change at each border. QWTN builds the right record for where the waste is moving.
- England and Wales consignment notes, including multi-collection rounds
- Scotland special waste records
- Northern Ireland pre-notification deadlines worked out for you
- Quarterly consignee returns from the notes you received

Digital waste tracking
For receiving sites, QWTN builds the DEFRA receipt record from each load and submits it to the Digital Waste Tracking service. Submission is going through DEFRA production approval now, so check the in-app status before relying on it.
- Receipt records built from the loads you already log
- Two-working-day deadline tracked against every receipt
- Export of every record, whatever the submission status
- Digital transfer notes ready for the 2027 carrier mandate

EA register checks and expiry reminders
Check a carrier or broker against the live Environment Agency public register before they take your waste, then keep your own permits and licences in date.
- Live carrier, broker and dealer register checks
- Permit and exemption lookups
- Expiry reminders for registrations, permits and licences

Scheduling and route planning
Book collections on a calendar, repeat them on a schedule, and turn the day into an optimised route for each vehicle.
- Recurring collections that skip and shift around bank holidays
- Route optimisation per vehicle and depot
- Drag to reorder, then send the run to the driver

The offline driver app
Opens in the phone’s browser with no app store. It shows the next stop, keeps working with no signal and syncs when the van is back in range.
- Next stop with address, waste and what needs signing
- Exceptions logged on the spot: no access, wrong waste, overweight
- DVSA walkaround checks with photos, queued offline

Fleet and O-licence
Every vehicle, its due dates and its defects in one place, so the O-licence file is never a scramble.
- MOT, tax and insurance dates with reminders
- PMI and LOLER inspection schedules
- Defects raised from walkarounds and signed off when fixed
- Weighbridge tickets (lite) on the Fleet plan

Skips and containers
Know which skip is on which site, for how long, and what is due back.
- Containers on hire by site and customer
- Days on hire and overdue returns
- Swaps and collections tied to the note

Customers and the client portal
Your customers sign in with a one-time code sent to their email, no password to forget, and find every note, document and invoice for their sites.
- Email-code sign-in
- Notes, certificates and documents by site
- Invoices they can view and pay online

Quotes, invoices and VAT
Price the job, turn the quote into an invoice and chase it, without a second system.
- Quotes that convert to invoices
- Credit notes and part payments
- Payment reminders
- Sales VAT report for your return

Producer hub
Producing waste rather than moving it? See every contractor, every note they send you, and what it adds up to.
- Contractors with their register status
- An inbox of notes to review and sign
- ESG reporting by site, stream and hierarchy

What we deliberately leave out
A few things QWTN won't try to be, and why.
We don’t sell you hardware
No tablets, no printers, no trackers to buy. Drivers use the phone already in their pocket.
We don’t charge per note
Notes are unlimited on every plan, including the free one. A busy week never moves the bill.

Questions about what QWTN does
The product scope, in plain terms.
Is QWTN only for waste transfer notes?
No. Notes are the core, but QWTN also covers hazardous consignment notes, scheduling and route planning, an offline driver app, fleet and O-licence records, health and safety, container tracking, a client portal and invoicing. Which parts you get depends on your plan.
Does QWTN submit to DEFRA’s Digital Waste Tracking service?
For receiving sites, QWTN builds the DEFRA receipt record from each load and submits it to the Digital Waste Tracking API. That submission is going through DEFRA’s production approval now. Until approval is granted, check the in-app status before relying on it for the two-working-day deadline, and export your records at any time.
Does it handle hazardous waste in Scotland and Northern Ireland?
Yes. England and Wales use consignment notes, Scotland uses special waste records and Northern Ireland needs pre-notification. QWTN builds the right record for each and works out the NI pre-notification deadline.
Does the driver app work without signal?
Yes. It opens in the phone’s browser, keeps working offline, queues walkarounds, photos and exceptions, and syncs when the phone is back in range.
Which features are free?
Creating and downloading a waste transfer note, and checking a carrier on the EA register, are free with no account. E-signatures, storage and season tickets start on Solo (£12 a month); fleet, scheduling, H&S, containers and the client portal on Carrier (£29); API, webhooks, weighbridge and white-label PDFs on Fleet (£69).
